Oh no! was developed as a two player strategy game with a goal of scoring higher points than the opposing player. Every time a turn passes, some bits of the floating islands fall down and disappear. To compensate for this, each player has 4 action points per turn, can build balloons on a tile, which makes sure that tile, and the four adjacent ones, cannot fall down. The players can also build cannons, with which they can shoot down opposing balloons to slow the opponent down. Aside from that, the players can also build bridges so they can connect to the other floating islands. Each of these actions cost differing amounts of action points, so strategy is key. The final score is determined by the amount of balloons and owned adjacent tiles a player controls. Oh no! was developed for the game jam Ludum Dare 42 by myself and a friend in under 72 hours with the theme “Running out of Space.”
